Alexandra Effe's talk investigates links between creative writing and times of crisis by analyzing author interviews from 70 years of the Paris Review “Art of Fiction” series through the lens of current theories on creativity and extended cognition. What can these sources teach us about the practice of creative writing, literature’s adaptive value for humanity, and individual psychological effects? What implications are there for public sectors, including arts funding, care interventions, and education?

The presentation will take place 3 December at the University of Auckland’s English Department and Centre for Arts and Social Transformation (CAST).
