Boyzie Layne was my grandfather on my mother’s side of the family. He came to London from Jamaica in the early 1950s as a part of the Windrush generation and lived the rest of his life in England. I am very grateful that I asked him about his journey to England and even which boat he came with the last time we met. If you have a living grandparent, please take the leap. You will not regret it.
