Since 2019, the research and excavation project Understanding Urban Identities (UUI) has aimed at furthering our understanding of the urban development in southern Etruria using the settlement at Vulci as its point of departure. The excavation campaigns conducted in 2022-2024 at the southern edge of Vulci’s urban plateau have revealed a possible religious cult complex dating to the Etruscan period.

This talk briefly presents the results of the first three excavation seasons, UUI’s current activities at the Norwegian Institute in Rome, and plans for the excavation and study season of 2025.

Rebecca Ringdahl is a master student in Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Lund and currently an intern in the UUI project.

Irene Selsvold is a postdoctoral research fellow in Classical Archaeology  at the Norwegian Institute in Rome and a researcher and staff member in the UUI project.

Kindly register here if you wish to participate at the seminar.
