Aim of the programme
As a new employee at the Faculty of Humanities (HF), there is a lot to get used to. Through the mentoring programme, we want you to get a flying start to your new position as a member of our academic community.
In the mentoring programme we build on recent experiences from new staff. Through the programme we want you to experience inclusion and integration in the workplace. The programme aims to act as a door opener to the culture of UiO and help you to find your own career path within this culture.
Practical information
When you accept a job offer from us, you will automatically be enrolled in the mentoring programme. You will be assigned a mentor whom we believe will suit you and your field of expertise. A separate agreement between you and your mentor is signed upon commencement.
The programme starts every autumn, and gives you 35 hours of credit in the work duty account.
The programme is led by a member of the academic leadership at HF (currently the Pro-Dean of Research).
Content
The mentoring programme runs for one academic year, two semesters, and consists of workshops (three full day gatherings and two half-day sessions) and one-to-one meetings between you and your mentor.
Activities
Spring 2026
- 22 January 2026: kick-off seminar 10:00-13:00
- January to March: One-to-one meetings between you and your mentor
- 26 February 2026: Thematic gathering on teaching 09:00-16:00
- March to June: One-to-one meetings between you and your mentor
- 8 June 2026: Thematic gathering on promotion to professor 12:00-15:00 with diplomas and flowers
Autumn 2026
- September to November: One-to-one meetings between you and your mentor.
- 5 November 2026: Thematic gathering on organisational understanding 12:00-16:00 followed by pizza and drinks at Union (on campus). Diplomas and flowers
