What tasks did you perform during your internship?

– At Kilden, I had the opportunity to participate in many different tasks, both large and small. At the beginning of my internship, I mostly attended various meetings to get to know the workplace and colleagues. And, gradually, I also got my own tasks, such as editing and producing text for Kilden's news magazine, in addition to conducting literature searches for a book about gender perspectives in research. I also participated in various events Kilden organized and hosted during my internship.

How did you use skills you have acquired from your education at the Faculty of Humanities?

– Kilden kjønnsforskning.no works with gender perspectives and gender balance in research, and the expertise I have gained from Gender Studies has therefore been important in the internship. In the work with 'Nyhetsmagasinet', I benefited from having knowledge of the topics and theories I wrote about, and experience with editing text. In the work of finding good examples of gender perspectives in research, I benefited from having knowledge of different gender perspectives, and how these can be used in appropriate ways, in addition to experience with digesting a lot of complex subject matters in a short time.

What do you think is or was the greatest benefit from your internship?

– The internship at Kilden has given me a better understanding of the many ways and levels of working with gender, both in Norway and internationally, and therefore also what kind of opportunities that exist after graduation. I have made new contacts, and learned a lot from applying my professional knowledge in new and challenging ways in a safe and knowledgeable environment!

Anything else you would like to add?

– The internship course is a unique opportunity to gain relevant work experience during your studies. It's also a nice break from the reading room, you meet others with similar interests, and you might even get to join a birthday party or two!
