The oldest evidence (circa XIV-XII BC) of the Greek language consists of inscriptions (mainly from the palace archives in Knossos, Pylos, Tiryns, Thebes, and Mycenae) written in a syllabic script known as Linear B. These texts were deciphered as late as 1952. The language of the inscriptions is called Mycenaean Greek. The purpose of this project is to create a complete, annotated, and searchable corpus of the Mycenaean language.
