General Information about the Election
How often are elections held?
Employees in the groups of permanent academic staff and technical-administrative staff elect their representatives every four years.
Representatives for temporary academic staff and students are elected annually.
An external representative is appointed every four years by the faculty board based on the proposal from the institute board.
Who has the right to vote?
According to UiO's election regulations, employees with at least a half-time position at the units conducting the election, as well as professors II, have the right to vote. The decisive factor for voting rights is the employment relationship on the day the vote is cast. You can vote for individuals within your own voting group.
Who can propose candidates?
Anyone eligible to vote in the election can propose any eligible person within their own voting group. All permanently employed staff with at least a half-time position and professors II have the right to vote, according to UiO's election regulations.
Election Process
When the election opens, you can cast your vote electronically in UiO's election portal, eValg.
The election is conducted as a direct election for each voting category: permanent staff in teaching and research positions, temporary staff in teaching and research positions, and students.
Election Committee
According to UiO's election regulations, §3, an election committee must be appointed for all elections. The election committee is responsible for ensuring that the elections are conducted in accordance with the regulations.

Autumn 2025
In the autumn of 2025, new representatives were elected to the Department Board from the groups of temporary academic staff and students for the 2026 term.
