Abstract:

This study investigates CP structure and the role of a universal constraint (e.g., an anti-locality) in L2 grammar by examining whether Japanese learners of English (JLEs) exhibit sensitivity to the adverb amelioration effect of that-trace violations, using two kinds of adverbs that attach different positions. In my presentation, I will present results of acceptability judgment tasks so far and open questions.
