Thank you for participating in Eco-Emotions on Air
Our first annual conference, Eco-Emotions on Air, took place on November, 14-15th 2024, in Oslo. The conference included several academic sessions, artistic presentations, a round table discussion at Litteraturhuset.
Our invited speakers were London-based American journalist Beth Gardiner, author of Choked: Life and Breath in the Age of Air Pollution and Professor in Medieval English Language and Literature Denis Renevey (Université de Lausanne), who specializes in late medieval and devotional literature, medieval religious writings for and by women, Chaucer and his fourteenth-century contemporaries.
Within the frame of environmental change and emotions, we welcomed papers on literary thematizations and representations of any of the above-mentioned (or others) aspects and features of air. Papers could entail:
- case studies focusing on literature of any period (historical and contemporary), any languages/ geographical area (Nordic and global), and any genre (prose, poetry, drama; children’s books, graphic novels, religious texts, etc);
-
theoretical and methodological contributions.
In addition to the academic papers, the Eco-Emotions conference on Air includes collaboration with a broad range of artists.
We wish to thank all participants by sharing Cecilia Bertoli's performance of Vivaldi's "Agitata da due venti", in which Costanza is seized, emotionally, by the two winds representing the conflict between marrying for love or for duty.
