Conference: Writing, feedback and collaboration across language subjects

We present results from the project "MULTIWRITE - Interactions Between First, Second and Third Languages" and insights from research on similar topics and contexts.

Students in Norwegian schools typically study three languages during their educational journey: Norwegian, English and a foreign language of choice.

  • What kinds of interactions can be found in the way that students write in their three languages?
  • How does teacher feedback look across the language subjects?
  • Can Norwegian, English and foreign language teachers collaborate to make language learning more effective?

The MULTIWRITE project revolves around such questions.

We have collected texts written in three languages by first-year students at upper secondary schools in various parts of the country, along with teacher comments on these texts. We have also interviewed teachers and worked with them to try out different kinds of cross-curricular collaboration.

At this conference, we present results from the project, while invited speakers share their insights from research on similar topics and contexts.
