Seminar: Social Homology

In this workshop, we continue to develop the concept of homology through theoretical clarification, innovations, and empirical applications. The central question is whether and how the concept of homology can advance field theory and explain practices and power relations across various empirical settings, scales, and times.

Our conceptual development of homology will include clarifications, elaborations, potential new concepts, and methodological discussions about the relationship between homology and specific methods. A key aim is to understand how similar structures—homologies—are constructed through the actions of agents, and the durability and effect of homology on practical struggles over the distribution of power and legitimate principles of vision and division in various empirical cases.

This workshop contributes to conceptual and methodological development, as well as empirical applications, taking an initial step in this direction. It is the third in a series of workshops previously held in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Warsaw, Poland.
