Progress reports by PhD-candidates

As a PhD candidate, you are required to submit an annual progress report to the person responsible for the PhD programme at your department within the stipulated deadline. This reporting is a precondition for continued admission to the programme.

The annual progress reports, from you as well as from your supervisor(s), are essential for enabling the departments to follow up their candidates in an optimal manner with regard to their progression, supervision, academic issues and educational component.

The candidate and the supervisor submit separate reports. The information is confidential, and you have the opportunity to comment on any problems that may have arisen in the context of the supervision. You may also request a meeting with the person responsible for the department’s PhD programme.

The progress report is submitted on an online form, and will be processed by the person responsible for the department’s PhD programme and the research consultant. On the basis of the progress reports, the department must each year submit a written statement to the Faculty with a description of each candidate’s progression, any problems that may have occurred and the follow-up undertaken by the department.

The annual reports from the candidates and their supervisors are a key element of the quality assurance and development of the Faculty’s research training programme.
