The corpus has 122 informants from 19 places and nearly 190,000 words. Automatic lemmatization, morphological tagging and word translations are delivered by Giellatekno (giellatekno.uit.no).

The corpus is one of the results from the infrastructure project LIA (Language Infrastructure made Accessible), a national collaborative project between four universities (UiO, UiB, UiT and NTNU), the Norwegian Dictionary 2014 and the National Library. The main goal of the project was to save old spoken dialect recordings of Norwegian and Sami languages so that they could be revitalized as valuable research material.
