George Cusworth is a geographer and anthropologist of science who focuses on food system transformation. He is interested in the way that various representations - cultural, scientific, commercial - shape how we conceive of good and bad food. In this first seminar as a DynamiTE postdoctoral research fellow, George will present initial findings of some empirical research on the EAT-Lancet Planetary Diet. He discusses how efforts to develop a universal diet for a standardised metabolic planetary citizen has been met with fierce resistance. Predicated on the idea of ‘the global poor’, he discusses the emergence of post-territorial but non-universal units of socio-ecological governance.
