ADHD diagnoses are on the rise. Can new research on attention and ADHD help us understand this shift?

The rate of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) diagnoses has increased in recent years, but there remain questions about the validity of such diagnoses and the support available. While attention and ADHD have long been major research focuses in psychology, they are increasingly of interest to philosophers, who are concerned with posing critical foundational and normative questions about the nature of attention and ADHD, and their broader significance for individuals and society.

This panel discussion will raise central questions about attention and ADHD for consideration in a public forum. What does research on ADHD reveal about how we relate to attention as a society? What forms and styles of attention are valued, and which are not? How do aspects of contemporary society facilitate or hinder attention for individuals with ADHD and more generally?

The discussion will be moderated by Drew Johnson (affiliated with GoodAttention).
On the panel are:
