In the Special Issue: Conversations on the Anthropocene and Climate Change of the journal of Contributions to Indian Sociology, Aase J. Kvanneid’s latest book, Perceptions of Climate Change from North India: An Ethnographic Account, was reviewed by Gideon Thomas Mathson from Shiv Nadar University.

In the review, Mathson pinpointed the divine agency in comprehending climate change at a local scale and how that is entangled in the hegemonic modern climate change discourses. He also beautifully summarized the form, contents, and contributions of the book: “the book’s greatest value lies in its construction of environmental agency and citizenship, in contrast to other texts, which often seem relatively oblivious to the ‘lived’ aspects of ecological uncertainty.”
