Transsustain Internal Workshop with Guest Speaker Mary Evelyn Tucker on 18 February 2022

On 18 February 2022, Transsustain invited Mary Evelyn Tucker as a guest speaker to discuss Confucian spirituality. She presented works by herself and other scholars such as Tu, Weiming. In the workshop, the concept of transcendence was revisited. She emphasized the transformative power of Confucianism and the idea of filial relation in moral ecology or ethics for the environment. 

 

 

About the speaker,

Mary Evelyn Tucker is a Senior Lecturer and Research Scholar at Yale University. Her areas of expertise are environmental ethics, environmental justice, as well as religion and the environment. She also teaches online courses including "East Asian Religions and Ecology", "South Asian Religions & Ecology", "Christianity & Ecology" and etc. at platforms such as Coursera and MOOC.
