Background
I received my PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Oslo in 2024. I also hold a Master's degree in Italian Studies and Linguistics from the University of Bologna, Italy, and a Bachelor's degree in French Studies from the University of Indonesia.
I have taught BA and MA-level courses at the University of Oslo. I have also taught Italian, French, and Indonesian, both privately and in language schools; I was an Italian teacher at the Italian Institute of Culture in Jakarta and taught Italian phonetics and diction to undergraduate music students at the Jakarta Institute of Arts.
Research
I am currently a researcher in the EU-funded project FOSTERLANG, which aims to foster linguistic capital and promote equitable multilingualism in Europe. My work focuses on the relationship between language policies, multilingual practices, and participation in minority and migrant communities in Norway.
My PhD project examined the intersection of language learning, migration, and professional trajectories of highly educated Indonesian migrants in Norway. Drawing on both sociolinguistic and second language acquisition theories, I examined the challenges and opportunities that long-term and recently arrived Indonesian migrants have in learning Norwegian and in entering the local job market. In my dissertation, I highlighted the importance of equal access to language learning and employment resources and opportunities to support migrants' integration into society.
Broadly, my research interests include multilingualism and migration, language in professional and institutional settings, language policy and ideology, and foreign language didactics.
