Current research

The subject of my dissertation is the strikingly agential role which environment plays in the narrative progression of the Vínland sagas, Eiríks saga rauða and Grœnlendinga saga. Through studying the recurring linguistic constructions and literary motifs which the sagas use to enunciate instances of nonhuman-human engagement, I aim to gain a better understanding of medieval Icelandic nature-culture dynamics.

Academic interests

My primary interest lies in the intersection of Old Norse-Icelandic saga literature and the environmental humanities, which I endeavor to combine via new materialist perspectives on human-nonhuman relations and agencies.
