Eco-Emotions project member Line C. Engh will in this Eco-Emotions seminar present her current project: The minigraph Wayfinding with Monks, which explores the concept of wayfinding in monastic pedagogy in the Latin Middle Ages. The minigraph bridges medieval studies, cognitive science, and the histories of emotions and the senses, offering new perspectives on the role of mental navigation and travel imagery in medieval monastic learning and in human wayfinding more generally.
The following two texts are the reading preparations for the seminar:
- Engh's book proposal to Cambridge University Press for the minigraph series Elements: Histories of Emotions and the Senses.
- An article on “prospection” by Seligman, Martin et al. (2013) “Navigating into the Future or Driven by the Past.” Perspectives on Psychological Science 8(2), 119-141.
Contact research assistant Sara Louise G. West for the book proposal that will be discussed in the seminar.
