Christine Meklenborg Nilsen
My main interests of research concern word order in Germanic and Romance languages, in particular the Verb Second (V2) structure. I am the director of the research project Traces of History, which seeks to understand why the Germanic languages have retained a V2 word order, wheras this structure has been lost in the Romance languages.
Other areas of interest include complementizers, root-embedded asymmetries, clitics, interrogation, the left periphery, the pronominal system, and verbal syntax. My main languages of research are Old and Modern French, but I have also worked on Old English and Modern Germanic.
Full CV (May 2015).
