  Dans cet hommage à Hans Petter Helland, j’ai examiné deux sujets traités dans sa grammaire, Ny fransk grammatikk – morfologi, syntaks og semantikk (2006). En premier lieu, j’ai étudié la comparaison entre le futur simple et le futur périphrastique, un sujet de sa thèse de doctorat, Sémantique et pragmatique temporelles. Futur simple et futur périphrastique (1994). J’ai pu constater que, depuis 1994, Helland a modifié l’analyse sémantique de la périphrase de façon à rendre celle-ci plus compréhensible pour les étudiants. En second lieu, j’ai abordé les constructions hypothétiques, un de mes sujets favoris en matière verbale. Malgré quelques réserves, je trouve que la présentation qu’il fait est intéressante et très bonne d’un point de vue pédagogique.

  In French, nouns denoting occupations and offices usually have different forms for males and females (e.g. pharmacien 'male pharmacist' - pharmacienne 'female pharmacist'). In Norwegian, this is a very marginal phenomenon. We discuss this difference between the two languages, and propose that it must be understood on the background of their systems of grammatical gender. The forms for males and females find a natural place in French, with its clear distinction between masculine and feminine gender. The situation is different in Norwegian, where this distinction is marginal or non-existing in central varieties.

  This paper discusses the communicative function of declarative sentences used as polar questions in French and Norwegian:
 (1a) - Inger Holter jobbet i en bar?
 (1b) -  Inger Holter bossait dans un bar ?
 These two sentences are similar concerning the subject-verb order, the ascending intonation curve, and the choice of lexical morphemes. In both languages, they are declarative sentences used to ask questions. More precisely, we are dealing with polar questions marked by intonation only.
 The way sentences such as (1a) and (1b) are used in actual texts shows that they do not have the same communicative function. The Norwegian speaker expects his assumption to be confirmed by the listener, maybe with a hope of getting more information. The French example, on the other hand, admits two different interpretations, and it is the context of the utterance that decides. It can be a request for information, in which the speaker has no preconceived idea of what the answer will be. Alternatively, the interpretation can be the same as in Norwegian if a modal particle or adverb is added, as in Inger Holter bossait dans un bar, n’est-ce pas?

Jeg konkluderer med at selv om både norsk og fransk er mer eller mindre SVO-språk, er det store forskjeller i ordstillingen.

Je propose une définition prototypique, impliquant que toutes les constructions passives n'ont pas le même nombre de traits caractéristiques, et qu'une phrase peut être plus ou moins passive.
