About the project
In their second year children acquire an immense amount of new words. PolkaNorski is an international project consisting of researchers from the University of Warsaw, OsloMet and University of Oslo, dedicated to learning more about this language development process.
Who can participate in the study?
Families that speak Norwegian and/or Polish, with children between 17 and 24 months old, can participate in the study.
What does participation entail?
The first part of the project consists of answering a couple of questionnaires about the child's language development. This takes approximately 40 minutes. Next, we will ask you to come visit us in our lab at Blindern. Here the child will see pictures on a screen in combination with hearing different words. Meanwhile we register the child's brain activity using EEG-technology. This procedure is totally safe, and the whole session takes about 1 hour.
As a thank you for participating in the study, your child will receive a diploma proving they are important contributors to our research!
