Academic interests

I am interested in modern European history from comparative, transnational, and global perspectives, with a focus on the 20th century.

My areas of academic expertise include:

  • Fascism, neofascism, and the Far Right
  • Internationalism and Europeanization
  • German reunification and the history of universities

Current and past research projects

In my current research postdoctoral project, “A History of Far-Right Europeanism in the Post-War Period (FREITPWP),” I am investigating international far-right networks in postwar Europe, with a focus on neofascist activists in Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. This Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowship funded by the EU’s “Horizon Europe” program s affiliated with both IAHK and C-REX (Center for Research on Extremism) at the University of Oslo (UiO).

Since 2024, I have been involved in the research project “The Europeanisation of the Universities: Transforming Knowledge Institutions from within, c. 1985–2010,” led by Johan Östling (Lund University) and funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. In this project, five researchers are examining universities in Lund, Aalborg, Valladolid, Ghent, and Berlin from a comparative perspective, focusing on discourses, ideas, and processes related to Europeanization. I have studied the history of Humboldt University at the end of the Cold War and during German reunification.

In my doctoral dissertation, which I wrote between 2020 and 2024 at the Graduate School of Global Intellectual History (Freie Universität Berlin), I examined fascist networks and the exchange of ideas in Northwestern Europe during the interwar period. The dissertation was published under the title “Fascists of the World, Unite? A History of Fascist Internationalism in 1930” by De Gruyter Brill in 2025.
