To comment on the candidate's work, we have invited Professor Gro Birgit Ween at Museum of Cultural History, University of Oslo.
The mid-term evaluation is organized in two parts and starts with a 2-hour public seminar, followed by a closed meeting.
The purpose of the evaluation is to assess the progress of the PhD project at a point when it is still possible to make small or substantial changes. In general, we want to know how the candidate is doing, how much work is done, and what is left.
About the PhD candidate and her research
I am interested in the intersection of religion, indigenous rights and environmentalism, particularly in contested landscapes. My doctoral research project focuses on Sámi resistance against wind turbine expansion in northern Norway in the current, how certain activists are employing Sámi traditional beliefs and narratives in their advocacy strategies and how these voices may challenge the cultural heritage protection regime in Norway.
My supervisors are Associate Professor Hugo Reinert and co-supervisor Professor Torjer Andreas Olsen, UiT: The Arctic University of Norway.
