About the installation
The Plow Forgets But the Land Remembers is an installation that explores a speculative design fiction that emerges from an interdisciplinary practice-based research exploring alternative human-soil Co-Futures.
The sf story follows the development of a designed object—a Sadar which enables mapping of deep soils and multi-species communication across space and time through over a millennium at the planetary and galactic scale. It draws on and weaves together urgent contemporary themes of climate futures, alternative critical infrastructures for long-term sustainability, technological disobedience, regenerative ecology, politics, and culture.
The exhibition showcases the fiction Sadar system interacting with the soils and as a medium of communication with the mysterious and truly alien subsurface deep life hundreds of kilometers deep.
This work is part of the NFR project Anthropogenic Soils in collaboration with CoFutures.
