Rooms
Child eye-tracking room and welcome area
The child eye-tracking room is equipped with an EyeLink 1000+ eye-tracker with a movable arm-mount screen, set up for remote eye-tracking with children. Adjacent to the eye-tracking room (HWH 431) is a welcome area (HWH 429) with children's toys.
Adult eye-tracking room
The adult eye-tracking room is equipped with an EyeLink 1000+ eye-tracker, set up for adults (with head-stabilizing chinrest).
- Information on how to book lab rooms is available at the page Booking rooms.
Eye-tracking equipment
The Socio-cognitive Lab has multiple eye-tracking technologies available, suitable for different kinds of research.
EyeLink 1000+
The EyeLink 1000+ is a stationary eye-tracking system with a sampling rate of up to 2000Hz in a head-stabilized mode and up to 1000Hz in a remote tracking mode. This precision makes the 1000+ particularly suitable for reading studies. The lab has two eye-trackers of this type, one set up for children and one for adults.
The EyeLink can be connected to our EEG system from BrainProducts. We have 2 licenses for the SR Research Experiment Builder and Data Viewer software.

EyeLink Portable Duo
The EyeLink Portable Duo is a portable eye-tracking system with a sampling rate of up to 2000Hz. The Portable Duo comes with a designated MSI laptop and travel case for use outside the lab.
Pupil Labs Neon eye-tracking glasses
The Pupil Labs Neon eye-tracking glasses have a sample rate of 200Hz, and are suited for research offsite. The Socio-Cognitive Lab is equipped with two pairs of Neon glasses, one of which features interchangeable lenses to accommodate participants requiring vision correction.
SMI RED 250
The SMI RED 250 mobile has a sampling rate of 250Hz and allows for remote binocular tracking of participants. It is portable and can be used for testing both within and outside of the lab. The lab has licenses for the SMI software Experiment Builder and BeGaze.
You can find more information on how to use the SMI RED 250 mobile's hardware and software in the user manuals:
Introduction and training
If you are interested in using one of the lab's eye-trackers for your research, please register your project using this project registration Nettskjema. Also be sure to familiarize yourself with the lab's routines, guidelines, and codes of conduct. We will then arrange for the necessary training and support. After successful training, you will get permission to book the eye-tracking room and use the eye-tracker independently for your research.
For specific questions about the eye-tracker and technical difficulties, first consult the manuals, and if that does not solve it, get in touch with the lab manager or lab engineers.
