Talk and concert with asamisimasa

asamisimasa will present a short programme of music in connection with the conference "The Aesthetics of Absence in Music of the 21st Century"

asamisimasa was founded in 2001 and has since premiered numerous cross-media works dedicated to them, often contextualized with classical repertoire and historical avant-garde work.

asamisimasa has collaborated with composers such as Helmut Lachenmann, Mathias Spahlinger, Nicolaus A. Huber, Aldo Clementi, Alvin Lucier, Brian Ferneyhough, Helmut Oehring, Clemens Gadenstätter, Klaus Lang, Johannes Kreidler, Joanna Bailie, and extensively with cross-media composers such as Simon Steen-Andersen, Øyvind Torvund, Martin Schüttler, Matthew Shlomowitz, and Trond Reinholdtsen.

They recently premiered a new piece dedicated to them by Mathias Spahlinger at the Berlin Philharmonie and have been performed on Deutschlandradio Kultur, WDR Cologne, Darmstadt, and at Donaueschingen, Ultraschall, Ultima, Huddersfield, Rainy Days, Monday Evening Concerts LA, Other Minds Festival (San Francisco) Cutting Edge (London), Angelica and SPOR among others. Their first two recordings, with music by Simon Steen-Andersen (DK) and Øyvind Torvund (NO) were awarded the Norwegian Grammy (Spellemann) for best contemporary music record of the year. Further recordings include portrait CDs with composers Matthew Shlomowitz, Laurence Crane, and Trond Reinholdtsen.

Today Ellen Ugelvik, Tanja Orning and Anders Førisdal will perform 3 solo works by Joanna Bailie, Johannes Kreidler and Laurence Crane. 

NB.: Ellen Ugelvik will perform at 4:30pm in the Salen at the Department of Musicology, ZEB-building, while the rest of the programme will be performed at the Science Library (Realfagsbiblioteket) as part of the event at 6pm.  

The event is organised by the Department of Musicology in collaboration with the Science Library.
