Summary:
The Transfers of Viennese and Berlin Popular Musical Theatre to Stockholm from 1927 to 1949, with a Special Focus on Max Hansen
The PhD project examines the transfer of popular musical theatre of the theatre seasons 1927/28 to 1948/49 from Vienna and Berlin to Stockholm. The actor and cabaret artist Max Hansen serves as the focal point for the study. With him in the centre, the thesis discusses the overall context of popular musical theatre production in Stockholm, the historical and political context in which the cultural transfers took place, and the adaptation strategies of initially German-language operettas for stagings in Stockholm.
