Telenor Master Grant

Telenor announces two master grants of 50.000 NOK each for master students at the Department of Media and Communication, University of Oslo.

The master grants

The master grants can be awarded to students at the Department of Media and Communication (IMK) writing a master’s thesis on topics of high relevance to Telenor.

The criteria for evaluation are the originality of the idea, the relevance of the topic for Telenor, the achievability of the project proposal and the candidates’ previous grades.

Below is a list of suggested topics. Please note that the list is not exhaustive and that master theses with other topics of relevance to Telenor will also be considered.

  • Service innovation
  • Privacy
  • The internet on mobile platforms in Asia
  • Intellectual property rights
  • Livelihood strategies and mobile services
  • Competition and competition law applied to mobile companies
  • Regulation of mobile telephony companies

The Telenor Master Grants consist of 50 000 NOK each. Fifty percent of the money will be disbursed to the students after being selected and the remaining amount will be transferred when the master thesis receives a passing grade.*

How to apply

The application should contain a brief application text (1 page), your master's thesis project description, your CV, and transcript of records (university level). Application language: English or Norwegian.

Please note: Qualifying for the scholarship requires that your master's thesis project description is approved.

Application deadline: Friday 28 February 2014.

* If the master student has not received a passing grade by 31.12.2014, transfer of the remaining amount depends on a report by the Department of media and communication including a statement from the student and the student’s supervisor about the progress of the project and the feasibility of concluding the master thesis according to plan.
