Old regulations for thesis seminars at IAKH

Current requirements from August 31, 2020 (6 credits): 

• two years of attendance, but active participation for the duration of the programme is encouraged
• 4 presentations (1 oral presentation and 3 manuscripts)
• commenting on all manuscripts presented in the thesis seminars, both orally and in written form

Seminars missed during the first two years must be completed during the third year. Attendance in thesis seminars at universities abroad may replace our own seminars, subject to approval by the head of the PhD group.

For doctoral candidates hired/start of studies 1.1.2018 -30.08.2020

Participation is mandatory during the first 2 years of the study period. In order to quality for credits, candidates are required to present their own text at least 3 times, and comment on someone else’s text at least 3 times. The thesis seminar gives a total of 6 credits over two years, equivalent of 150 - 180 hours of work.

All doctoral candidates are encouraged to participate in the thesis seminar for the duration of their student period. The PhD leader register attendance for each semester. 

For doctoral candidates hired/start of studies for the period 1.1.2015 - 31.12.2017:

Participation is mandatory during the first 2 years of the study period. In order to quality for credits, candidates are required to present their own text at least 2 times, and comment on someone else’s text at least 2 times. The thesis seminar gives a total of 6 credits over two years.

All doctoral candidates are encouraged to participate in the thesis seminar for the duration of their student period. The PhD leader register attendance for each semester. 

For doctoral candidates hired/start of studies before 1.1.2015:

Completed thesis seminars gives a total of 4 credits over two years.
