– What are the most important aspects of your job?

– My most important work tasks are to edit texts, assignments and relevant material for our digital teaching portal for primary and lower secondary schools. My work mostly involves social studies for Years 5 to 10.

– What do you like best about your job?

– The days are rarely the same. I get to work with many different topics within the field of social science and disseminate them in every conceivable type of media. Along the way, I learn from and spar with all the skilled professionals working at the publishing house.

– In what ways are the studies offered by the Faculty of Humanities relevant to your job?

– At MITRA, we were good at effectively familiarising ourselves with complex topics, we learned to think in an interdisciplinary manner about history, in addition to being well trained in source criticism and use. Not least, we were good at giving each other feedback and processing each other’s texts. This experience helps me every single day. The history subject is more versatile in terms of future jobs than many people realise, and skilled communicators of history are in demand in several business sectors.

– What is the best advice you can give new students who are thinking about job opportunities after completing their studies?

– You might hear this a lot, but get involved in organisations and student journals. I learned about my current position through people I got to know on the programme committee that was part of my bachelor’s degree. The experience I gained from the student history journal Fortid played a crucial role in me getting the job.
