Academic interests

Wanda Marcussen is a doctoral research fellow in environmental history. Her academic interest includes climate history, marine environmental history, and cultural heritage studies, and with her research she seeks to better understand how coastal communities responded and adapted, or failed to do so, during the climate of the Little Ice Age and especially during crisis years. Her regional focus is on Norway and Northern Europe.

Background

Wanda studied International Studies and History at the University of Oslo from 2015-2018. She went on to study history and cultural heritage studies for a semester at the Norwegian Institute in Rome in the autumn of 2018, before studying a year of Social Anthropology at the University of Bergen between 2019-2020. Wanda completed her M.Phil studies in Environmental History at Trinity College Dublin in 2021.
