My current research is about the history of Freemasonry in Egypt under colonial rule, with a focus on its socio-political influences and cultural significance. My project aims to challenge traditional mainstream narratives about Egyptian Freemasons and explores the nuanced relationships between their affiliation with a perceived Western secret society and their roles in Middle Eastern nationalist historical movements.
I obtained my Masters in Linguistics from the American University in Cairo, where my thesis tackled radical Islamist propaganda and have worked there for three years as a faculty developer.
Currently a member of the Critical Historiography research group.
