Academic interests
My research mainly focuses on the religious arts of ancient Central and South Asia. In particular, I am interested in Buddhist visual culture from ancient Gandhara (broadly parts of present-day Afghanistan and Pakistan and dating between the first and the fourth centuries CE).
Before joining IFIKK, I was a UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow leading the project GRAVE: Gandharan Relic rituals And Veneration Explored at the University of Cardiff (2024-2026) and an École française d'Extrême-Orient Postdoctoral Researcher.
My academic formation was completed in India, UK, Italy and Greece. I have extensive archaeological and museum experience in Asia and Europe.
I am interested in supervising students on the topics associated with both pre-modern European and Asian art history as well as on theoretical perspectives such as globalization, ritual, gender, and connectivity before 1000 CE.
My publications along with PDF copies are regularly updated here.
