Academic interests

My research is mainly on logic and the foundations of mathematics, but I have an interest for epistemology and the philosophy of language more broadly, as well as for "continental" philosophy and political theory.

Current Research

As a research associate of Professor Øystein Linnebo’s C-FORS project, my dissertation thesis is on constructionalism - an approach to ontology that is based on constructing complexes from simples. The focus of my inquiry is to what extent constructionalism can help us resolve the stand-off between intuitionistic and structuralist approaches to the infinite – i.e., the cost/benefit evaluation of epistemic justification and provability strength. Constructionalism is, on the one hand, powerful enough to sanction most of ordinary mathematics. Thus it involves a huge extension, based on iterated idealizations, of the intuitionistic approach. In contrast to more structurally oriented approaches, however, it aims to at the same time provide mathematics with an epistemic foundation. I examine whether it succeeds in this latter task.
