In the past years, river health has risen up the political agenda in England as groups from campaigners to swimmers, researchers, and other concerned citizens have drawn attention to widespread issues of pollution and mismanagement of our hydrological commons. But what does a healthy river look like, who is such a river for, and what currents will carry us there?
"Bodies in the River, River in the Bodies" is a zine produced by Mereida Fajardo, George Cusworth and Oscar Hartman Davies as part of the OCEH-funded project Metabolic Sentinels, which explores articulations of human and river health among recreational water users and water quality advocates in the UK. Where human bodies and river bodies meet and intermingle, forms of environmental citizenship, knowledges, and politics are emerging that point towards better ways of living together.
Join us in the OCEH Lab for an informal launch of the zine, grab a copy to read and take home, and chat with us about rivers, bodies, pollution and more.
