Academic interests
My research investigates the distinctive properties of human language that enable the expression and communication of complex meanings, with a specialization in natural language and lexical semantics. I analyze internal semantic structure of words and their interactions with syntactic and semantic systems to distinguish grammatically relevant meaning components from language-specific or idiosyncratic aspects.
Drawing on naturally occurring data in Spanish, German, Polish, and English, I examine how authentic usage patterns challenge and inform formal theoretical models. My goal is to provide empirical and theoretical insights into natural language as a flexible and adaptable system. My publications address both theoretical questions and applied linguistic issues. Appointments
Since January 2021, I have held the role of Head of Education at the Department of Literature, Area Studies, and European Languages. In this position, I have an overarching and coordinating responsibility for all study programs and courses in addition to innovation in new programs. Since 2025 I am deputy head of department.
Teaching
I have taught a wide range of courses both in Spanish and German. These include communicative language skills, basic grammar, morphology, syntax, pragmatics, discourse analysis, and a master’s thesis writing seminar. Additionally, I also have experience in advising MA and PhD theses.
