Background

I am a doctoral research fellow in Media and Communication, investigating the weaponization of information in contemporary conflict. My research is driven by a fundamental question: In an era of pervasive disinformation, how is the very form of "truth-telling"—fact-checking—being co-opted to serve strategic political ends?
My PhD project critically analyses how state-aligned entities mimic the methodologies and language of objective verification to launder propaganda and legitimize wartime narratives. By employing critical discourse and methodological analysis, I aim to dissect the mechanisms through which these operations manufacture consent and undermine trust in information institutions, posing a profound challenge to digital democracy.

My work is inherently interdisciplinary, sitting at the intersection of political communication, propaganda studies, and critical media analysis. My perspective is informed by my academic background in Communications from Covenant University, Nigeria, and my international research experience at Sciences Po, France, which provides me with a crucial non-Western lens on global media dynamics.
