Academic interests
I am currently interested in the aesthetics, ontology and phenomenology of moving images. Specifically, my PhD project focuses on how representations of computer software and graphical user interfaces can be used as a means of artistic expression within film and contemporary art, as well as how interactivity is lost or reconfigured when spectators engage with these representations across differing modes of exhibition.
Background
I hold a BFA in Film Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University), with a specialization in production design. My graduation film I Must Be Going won the Norman Jewison Award for Best Film Production and screened at several international film festivals. I received my Master of Philosophy in Screen Cultures from the Department of Media and Communication at the University of Oslo. My master's thesis, Defining Desktop Films: From Spatial Interfaces to Algorithmic Cameras was awarded Best Master's Thesis from the Norwegian Media Researchers Association in 2022. I have previously held positions at the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto, the Astrup Fearnley Museum, and the Norwegian International Film Festival.
