    Doctoral Thesis

    • From Embracing Eternity to Riding the Bull: Representations of Homosexuality and Gender in the Video Game Series Mass Effect and Dragon Age

In this project I have explored the representations of homosexuality and gender in mainstream video games, and the main focus is centered on the Canadian developer BioWare's game series Mass Effect and Dragon Age. I investigate and analyze how homosexuality and gender is represented and mediated through the game structure and game world/aesthetics, and how these representations, as well as video games in general, can and should be understood from broader cultural perspectives on sexuality and gender.
