About the seminar
Leif Pedersen will discuss the relationship between the field of digital disconnection and the notion of public (dis)connection - and whether the use of alternative news media can be regarded as news avoidance. His research focuses on alternative media (use) and revolves around an interest in social recognition practices and struggles in the mediatized society.
Hallvard Moe will argue for the importance of understanding how and why people get saturated - and fed up - by news in the attention economy. He researches everyday use of news and citizens’ public connection in a broad sense.
The date and time is Tuesday, November 18, 13:00 to 14:00 (Norway time, CET).
Participants
- Leif Hemming Pedersen, Roskilde University
- Hallvard Moe, University of Bergen
- Yukun You, (digitox and University of Oslo) will chair the seminar
