The MIDI Room is a multi-purpose teaching space for composition and music production, accommodating student groups of up to 12 people. The room is located adjacent to the MIDI Studio, a modern recording and mixing studio available to students.
The teaching room is equipped with a basic Crestron AV system (2026), including a USB-C connection, projector, scaler, and HiFi Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) speakers. Each student workstation is also equipped with a Behringer UMC202 audio interface, a small condenser microphone, and a Novation Launchkey 49 MK4 MIDI keyboard. The system is configured so that the audio output from each workstation can be monitored through the room's main HiFi B&W speakers (direct monitoring). For more information about the room's setup and signal routing, please refer to the MIDI Room documentation.
The room also includes a selection of dedicated music production equipment, including 12 Teenage Engineering PO Modular 400 units, one upright piano, and two iMacs (2022 model) with Logic Pro X installed.
