Technical Overview
The Yamaha CF6 Enspire Pro Disklavier is a complete CF6 Yamaha grand piano with integrated and advanced self-playing technology. The most popular feature is the ability to use the piano as a MIDI device and transmit 8-bit MIDI information to/from the keys and pedals. A ton of additional features are also available from the free Enspire Pro app that connects directly to the piano via wireless LAN.
There are two hardware units relevant to users: the Switch box under the keys and the Control Center Unit under the piano body. The Switch box features controls mostly related to playback, such as play/pause, headphone out, and digital volume. Also, the Disklavier on/off button, USB flash memory (not MIDI), piano sleep and WLAN options are located directly under and behind the Switch box unit.

The Control Center Unit harbors various input and output connections available to users. Here you find the USB connector needed to use the Disklavier as a MIDI device, LAN port, digital outs, omni I/O and more. It's important to note that the Disklavier's digital and omni I/O do not convey audio signals. Rather, these I/O only transmit sync signals and VST audio from the piano's internal software. The Disklavier piano does not include an audio interface (AD/DA) or any mechanisms to record the mechanical piano sound.

How To Use the Disklavier
When using the Disklavier, two main features stand out: the USB-MIDI capabilities and the functionalities related to the Enspire Pro app. However, in any case, make sure the piano is connected to power and that you turn it On via the Switch box under the keys. The light on the Switch box should turn blue and the volume indicators should turn yellow.

USB-MIDI
To use the Disklavier as a MIDI device, connect the long USB-A cable from the Control Center Unit to your laptop. Then, choose the "Disklavier" MIDI device on your machine MIDI inn and out. Plug and play.
For more information about the MIDI-mapping and channel information, consult the technical documentation (manuals) below.
Enspire Pro app
The Disklavier's dedicated Enspire Pro app features a whole range of different functionalities. You can make the Disklavier a Silent Piano, where the mechanics still work but the piano is completely silent (only VST sound is audible through the internal speakers or headphones), explore the self-playing capabilities through a huge library of pre-recorded songs, set all kinds of system settings, and more.
To use the Enspire Pro app:
- 1. Download the Yamaha Enspire Pro app for Android or iOS.
- 2. Connect to the local wireless network of the piano from your device.

- 3. Open the Enspire Pro app and choose the available Disklavier from the list.

- 4. Finally, you will be re-routed to the browser to the local website of the piano. Here you can set settings and control the piano wirelessy.

Clean up
When you leave, remember to turn Off the piano from the Switch box under the keys. Also, please use the cover to avoid unnecessary damage to the instrument.
