The forum is organized in connection with the launch of MishMash – Centre for AI and Creativity at the University of Oslo, dedicated to exploring the intersections between art and science, and between human and machine.
The aim of the seminar is to create a space for dialogue across disciplines and institutions, bringing together perspectives on artistic research, creative practices, and fundamental knowledge development. Through presentations and discussion, we aim to deepen our understanding of different approaches to artistic research, explore potential areas for collaboration, and establish a foundation for long-term exchange and cooperation.
The forum brings together researchers and artists working at the intersection of artistic practice, technology, and research:
Alexander Jensenius (Department of Musicology, UiO) is a researcher in music technology and embodied music cognition, and director of MISHMASH. (Approx. 10 min.)
Morten Qvenild (Norwegian Academy of Music) is responsible for artistic research and development at NMH and is a musician and researcher with extensive experience in artistic knowledge production. (Approx. 10 min.)
Christian Blom is a composer, researcher, and director of NOTAM (Norwegian Center for Technology in Music and the Arts), working at the intersection of music, technology, and experimental artistic practices. (Approx. 10 min.)
Kari Iveland (Department of Musicology, UiO) is an artist and author of the recently published book Sounding the Voice (Bloomsbury). She will present her work on vocal practices and the relationship between the human voice, technology, and outline her interest in emerging forms of artificial intelligence. (Approx. 30 min.)
The presentations and the discussions that follow will provide an opportunity to exchange perspectives on artistic research, explore emerging questions around creativity and AI, and consider possibilities for future collaboration.
