Why should you run for office?

As a representative on the Faculty Board, you will help determine the broad outlines for how Norway's largest humanities environment is governed.

You should run for office because:

  • You gain influence and insight into how the Faculty operates.
  • It gives you valuable experience and adds positively to your resume.
  • You are compensated for your time.

The average is six meetings per year. The working language and case papers are in Norwegian, but it is possible to speak English in the meetings.

How do you nominate a candidate?

It is easy to nominate yourself or others as a candidate:

In an email to valgstyre@hf.uio.no, you write: “I/we propose N. N. as a Faculty Board representative for the permanent academic staff, temporary staff, academic, technical-administrative staff or students. Regards, (name)”

If multiple candidates are proposed in the same email, the number of signatories must be at least as large as the number of proposed candidates: “We propose N. N. and Y. Y. as Faculty Board representatives for the temporary academic staff/students. Regards, (name) and (name)”

All proposers must be in the copy field.
