The Vikings in Asia: A New Program Project from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond

In October 2025, researchers at Uppsala University’s Centre for the World in the Viking Age (WIVA) were very fortunate to be awarded a six-year Program grant from Riksbankens Jubileumsfond, to explore the Vikings in Asia (VIA). WIVA is very much a research environment rather than a project, but the new VIA Program gives us the opportunity to engage more directly with its agendas, across five work packages with an international team led by four PIs. This seminar will introduce the new Program and our plans for the future.
