For tida er eg forskingsleiar og stedfortreder for instituttleiar ved IAKH (2021-24) og medlem av styringsgruppene til Oslo School of Environmental Humanities (OSEH) og The Heritage Experience Initiative (HEI). Eg er også Research Associate ved Department of Archaeology, University of Cape Town og Life Member ved Clare Hall College, University of Cambridge.

Kort om mine interesser

Forfall, rust og avfall. Kunnskap og handverk, læring og kreativitet. Dette er stikkord for mine forskingsinteresser. Eg arbeider innan felta samtidsarkeologi og historisk arkeologi i det sørlege Afrika, samt jernalder og fokus på kulturarv i Norden. Fokuset på kunsthandverk har også medført samarbeid med aktive kunstnarar. Fellestema er minnestudie, teknologi og såkalte 'craftscapes', menneske/ting-relasjonar, mobilitet og translokalitet, samt utvikling av arkeologisk teori og metode.

Arbeidet med samtidsarkeologi og kritiske kulturarvsstudie gjer at eg er opptatt av forholdet mellom arkeologi og antropologi. Sentrale tema er møter mellom kunnskapssystem og verdssyn, og korleis den materielle verda inngår i død, gravlegging og relasjonar til dei døde. I tillegg til diverse utgravingar og prosjekt i Noreg, Sør-Afrika og Zimbabwe har eg også gjort eigne antropologiske studie i Mosambik, Zimbabwe, Botswana og Sør-Afrika.
