Academic interests
My academic interests span the Enlightenment, history of political and economic thought, history of historiography and the history of press freedom. I have worked mainly on 18th- and 19th century Dano-Norwegian and Norwegian intellectual history set within a European context.
At the moment I'm developing a project on the political use of history in the 18th century. I'm particularly interested in exploring differences and similarities in attempts across Europe to articulate and use notions of tradition for political purposes during the Enlightenment.
