This workshop features two short artist talks “The Womb, the Whisper and The Feral Things: Mythmaking as a Critical Method” by Mia Yu and “Thawing of the Frozen Rivers” by Kristiina Koskentola, reflecting on the two artists’ long-term artistic engagement with the vast land of Northern Eurasia, from Asia’s largest open-pit mine to Mount Changbai–Paektu, from Lake Saimaa to the Amur River. The talks are followed by an artist conversation and questions from the audience.
There will be a guided tour from Tøyen hovedgård to the urban farm Losæter after the morning workshop and lunch. The screening of Mia Yu’s films starts at 4:00 PM at Nordic Black Theatre.
The workshop is chaired by Yayi Zheng (Aarhus University), co-organized by Sarah Chen Huang (ECOART, UiO) and Alessandro Rippa (SAI, UiO).
